Dear Families
What a wonderful event last Friday, with amazing weather for Ride the Rivulet! It was great to see the school community come together for this experience. Well done to all students who participated and congratulations to Year 1 who won the trophy for the largest number of entrants. Thank you to Kellie and Sophie and your crew of volunteers for all your hard work in pulling this together.
There are several items in this fortnight’s newsletter written by our Year 6 leaders, thank you for your efforts students. I look forward to reading your articles today and in future newsletters as you report on events around the school. We also heard in assembly today about the leadership work being undertaken by our Year 6 students; it is exciting to hear about their projects and the opportunities they have to use their initiative and build their leadership skills.
Today we officially farewelled Mrs Helen Drysdale in a whole school assembly. Mrs Drysdale has had a long career spanning over four decades. Today we celebrated the positive impact she has had on students, families and staff over this time. We wish her all the best for a happy and satisfying retirement.
Naplan assessments drew to a close on Monday with South Hobart showing a very high participation rate, which is excellent. Well done to all Year 3 and Year 5 students who did their very best with each and every test!
A reminder that next Wednesday 5 April is the last day of term one for students. Staff will be here on Thursday for statewide moderation day.
I wish everyone a safe and happy Easter holiday. The first day of term two is Wednesday 26 April.
Regards
Anne Reeves

On Friday March 24 we held our annual bike event Ride the Rivulet which for the first time, coincided with National Ride to School Day. It was truly an amazing turn out with over 160 kids on their bikes ready and willing to participate. With a strong focus on fun, the event offers a way to build the bike riding participation of our students and is such a great opportunity for safety education/awareness all the while encouraging a heathy engagement in and respect for the local environment and each other. This year building on the success of previous years, there was something for everyone. Whether to experience a competitive bike race, to ride for fun, roll the oval, try skills at the obstacle course or just cheer on friends and siblings. It was a wonderful afternoon. We’d like to extend our deep gratitude to all the enthusiastic staff, volunteers, parents, and sponsors who gave their time or donated prizes making this event possible, thank you – you brought the good vibes!
A special mention and thanks must go to the School Association for providing the afternoon tea, to Anne, Julieann, Sandy and Lady Gowrie for your support and patience. To Bec (MC skills), Joe (traffic and rivulet logistics), Nerida (lead rider and past student support), Prue (kitchen coordination), Ed (Obstacle course and Trophies), Annie (medals) and Altus traffic (providing signs and the traffic plan), thank you. Fabulous prizes were generously donated by; Roll Cycles, Cyclingo, and the Bicycle Network ensuring there were stickers for everyone!
Big congratulations to all the kids who participated and especially to the Grade 1 students who won the perpetual trophy for most riders in a year group.
We look forward to seeing you all at the next one.
Sophie and Kellie
