Dear Families
It is amazing how quickly we have come to the end of our first term for 2024. Our cross-country event yesterday was a wonderful way to finish.
One student told me at the event that we were all winners. I reflected on this comment as I went around the course with some of the grades and concluded that everyone really was a winner. This was for various reasons; some because it was out of their comfort zone, but they did it anyway, some because they found it really hard but they demonstrated courage and determination and completed the course, some had met goals they had set for themselves and some crossed the finish line first. All of these are wonderful reasons why every participant was a winner. It was also fantastic to see students along the course encouraging and supporting each other with high fives and words of encouragement. I was extremely proud of all our students.
Thank you to families who were able to attend as either volunteers or as spectators. It is always great to have your support. Your contribution to school events is essential and very much appreciated.
On Tuesday we had the School Association AGM and first meeting of the new committee. This meeting was very well attended, and we now have a full committee for 2024. Please see the photo in the newsletter to see our new committee.
Thank you to the outgoing committee for their hard work over the past year, it has been a pleasure working with you all. I look forward to continuing the great partnership between the School Association and the school over the coming year.
I hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday. We look forward to seeing everyone return on Monday 29 April.
Regards
Anne Reeves
Principal

Jon Madin Marimbas and Wacky Instruments
Monday 29 & Tuesday 30 April
Some of you may recall Jon’s visit last year. Jon creates a range of exciting instruments for students to learn to use. Each class from 2/3A through to Year 6 will have a session with Jon over his two days at our school. In the afternoon there will be a concert where each class will share what they have learnt during the day. Families are warmly invited and strongly encouraged to attend. It is great to see all the students perform and a lot of fun!
The concerts begin at 2:00pm each day, please be seated ready to start by this time.
The day that each class has their concert is:
Monday 29 April – 2/3A, 3A, 3/4A, 4B, 4A
Tuesday 30 April – 5A, 4/5A, 5B, 6A, 6B
I hope to see lots of families there to enjoy this musical extravaganza!
Students and staff had an amazing time at camp in week 7. The sessions at Hagley conducted by the teachers there contributed hugely to our learning, but the camaraderie and personal growth from being away from home and learning with different people in different ways was equally as valuable. Please take the time to view 6B’s reflections on camp by clicking the link below.
As there are some students who do not have photo permissions for inclusion in the newsletter, not all groups were able to be shared. If you cannot see your child this may be why.
I hope you enjoy their presentation.
