If anyone has a spare one they could donate it would be greatly appreciated! Please contact Bree Chick at bree.m.chick@gmail.com if you think you may have something we could use.
Due to a late delivery of books to the school, Book Club orders will be delivered to classrooms tomorrow afternoon.
THE BEST PUPPET SHOW EVER
I have just seen the best puppet show ever. There was a BIG OWL and life size ferret and the most amazing voice actor. It was incredible, so interesting the crowd was fixated. It was about amazing birds and how the lost ferret was looking for her family. It was interesting, and the puppets were not ordinary puppets, some were as big as people. The Lyre bird looked stunning with its big tail feathers. The animals are all made from recycled materials and it took 460 hours of work to make the owl, it was beautiful.
By Isla
A birdwatcher walked quietly through the Australian bush. She was fascinated by birds and most of all - feathers. The bushes rustled, and a furry ferret walked into the sunlight.
The ferret called himself Feathers, for he had a fine plume of them. Pinky, Grey Knives, Yellow Fellows, Stripes and Fluffy-Tufts - he had named them all. He was recently abandoned by the pet shop owner in a forest, and saw a flock of birds flying. "I must have a flock too," Feathers said, and went to search.
Before he got anywhere, however, a tiny duckling waddled up to Feathers.
"Mama!" Feathers was confused.
"I'm not your mama,"Feathers replied, a bit puzzled.
"Dada!" the duckling declared.
"Arghh! Listen, I'm looking for my flock, and you're not it." Feathers started to walk away, but caught sight of something in duck's beak. "Hey! These feathers are mine! Get your own-wait, you found this? It's just like Pinky! Maybe I found my flock! Thanks, duckling! I owe you one!" He walked off into the bush.
This play was a lesson. I knew the moral of the story in the middle of the play. But I thought 'Why?' Why did they do it? This play was a life lesson, you should be yourself even if you're being pushed not to. Feathers is like many other adults or kids being pushed to do something you don't want to do. Even if it's at school or at work. If you watched this play you'd learn that too. Go watch the play with family or friends and be you.
"This story/play made me feel warm, fuzzy, sad and amused. I loved it."
"It was scary because THE BIG OWL was scary!"
"I've been to all of the Terrapins shows and their latest does NOT disappoint."
Prep A created some pieces of work telling us who their favourite character was and why they enjoyed the performance.

Prep A went to the Marine Discovery Centre
Prep A's visit to the
Marine Discovery Centre
On Thursday the 20th of June Prep A and B went to The Marine Discovery Centre. We had an incredible time exploring the aquarium gallery and touch tank room and feeding the fish. We learned about different observable external features of animals and how dolphins and sharks are the same and different. Please find above and below some of Prep A’s recount writing from the excursion.

Our lost property rack is overflowing!
If your child is missing any uniform items please check the lost property rack which is now located outside the canteen on the deck of the hall. To help with recovery of lost uniform, please name all items of clothing. If your child is wearing second hand uniform items, please change the name from the previous owner.
Named items have a really good chance of being returned to their owner.
Very Hungry Caterpillar - By The Preps
New Display in the Front Foyer.
Prep A and Prep Bs
Very Hungry Caterpillars
Prep A and Prep B have been exploring the world of The Very Hungry Caterpillar. Using egg cartons and craft materials, the students created their very own ‘Hungry Caterpillar’. The classes also created a collage portrait of their caterpillar and used a lot of fine motor skills to cut out their caterpillar’s bodies. The classes also drew their creatures’ favourite food – just like Eric Carle’s caterpillar, I think our caterpillars may also have tummy aches.
We will continue investigating the life cycle of their caterpillars during upcoming lessons.
Over all the Interschools chess tournament was pretty good. South Hobart came second, with Reuben taking out 4th as an individual.
The start of the day was a complete catastrophe, I'm not sure why but the maxi taxi did not arrive. ( Mrs. Reeves and Mrs. Corney came to the rescue!)
Next term SHPS will be hosting a competition, will let you know more details closer to the day.
Water Polo Team
In term two South Hobart Primary School put together a mixed grade 5/6 waterpolo team. The players consisted of Manon, Archie, Echo, Eleanor, Oliver, Theo, Archie, Forbes, Sophie, Rose and our coach Callan.
We trained every Tuesday, and played a game every Friday at the Aquatic Centre or the Clarence pool. During the season we had four wins, zero draws and four losses. We made it to the semifinals, which was awesome!
See some player's comments below:
My highlights were staying up late and swimming with my friends.
It was great to see all the year fives trying really hard and getting so good at it.
It was really fun and fast paced.
I think waterpolo is an awesome sport, and I would highly recommend people giving it a go, even if you don't know much about it, or have any experience.
