Dear Families
As I reflect on the past week, I am really grateful for the number of volunteers who step up and support us to provide learning experiences and opportunities for our students. We had many volunteers who helped to make our swimming carnival a success last week, I see families attend excursions with classes and today I watched a large number of parents and grandparents head off to bush kinder with our kinder classes. There is also a group of parents who have volunteered to undertake many of the organisational tasks for the triathlon next term. We are very grateful for the support of our families in all of these endeavours.
Bookings for Three Way Conferences closed today. If you have not made an appointment yet, please see your child’s teacher and book directly with them. This is an important opportunity for students to share their learning and their progress on their learning goals with their families.
The Year 6 Leadership Group (Environment) have organised a threatened species week for the last week of term. They have activities planned for K – 2 students at lunch time, will screen a documentary on Friday for Year 3 – 6 students and each day will share facts about threatened species with the school. They have also organised with Julieann (SBM) to have Qkr! open to raise money for threatened species via Bonorong. Well done to all the students in this group for leading this initiative.
Regards
Anne Reeves

Each family should nominate one person to fill in this survey for their child(ren).
Take the online survey by clicking this Link, or pasting it in your browser:

School Association Member Profiles
“In the upcoming newsletters we will introduce you to our school association members to learn a little about them and their motivation for being involved.”
2A and 2B's Visit to Government House
On Thursday the 5th of September 2A and 2B went on an excursion to Government House. We were welcomed by Her Excellency, the Honourable Barbara Baker and enjoyed morning tea and a tour of the house. After that we caught a bus to the Gunpowder Magazine on the Domain and walked from there to Legacy Park for lunch. Finally, we met with the Bushcare team who talked about how special areas of the grassland are. Thank you to our parent volunteers Alison, Jen, Cassi, Laura, Ben and Tom. The excursion linked well with our inquiry into special places and, what makes them significant and how we can care for them. |
This term we will not be participating in kindergarten teacher conversations but will host an open afternoon.
You are invited to join us on Wednesday 18th and Thursday 19th September between 2:00pm and 4:30pm to share in the kinder learning program with your child. Please note children must be with a parent between 3:00pm and 4:30pm, you are welcome to attend for as long or little time as works for you and your child.
This in an open door invitation, you are welcome to attend either or both days, please let us know if you are able to attend to assist with our planning.
Thank you for student’s participation in the Lego Brixhibition. It was very popular, and we had 60 Lego creations from Kinder through to Grade 6. The students’ models showed lots of creativity and imagination and made it very difficult for teachers to decide on group winners and an overall winner for our school. To that end, we will need to keep the models until Monday to enable all staff to vote for their favourite.
The winners from each category will be kept at school on display until the end of term, all other lego will need to be collected by the end of next week.
Watch this space for an announcement of age group winners and our overall winner in the next newsletter!
Winners in each category will be celebrated in our whole school assembly on Monday 19 September.
Camp 2025
We look forward to meeting parents at the Camp Briefing on Tuesday, 15th October (week 1, next term) at 5:30 pm.
Could you please return the three forms that require your input and signature, as soon as possible. Your child can put them in their class tub.
A reminder that payment for the camp is via Qkr!
Thank you.
Australian Cross Country Championships
Grace, from Year 5, recently competed at the Australian Cross Country Championships which were held at Symmons Plains. Grace ran an amazing race on the day to finish 19th overall and was the second placed Tasmanian.
This was a terrific effort in wet and muddy conditions! Congratulations Grace!

Tasmanian Fashion Parade
On the 1st of September, I went to the Tasmanian Fashion Parade to see one of my designs go on the Catwalk in Salamanca. When we got there, we had to go to a counter to get signed in. I didn’t need a ticket because I was one of the designers. Once we got in, there were lots of stalls and caravans selling all sorts of things. In the middles of the hall was a long runway, where the models would walk up and down showing our designs. Around the runway, were lots of chairs for people to sit in and watch the parade. At the end of the show, all the designers would go backstage and wait for the judges to decide the winners. One of the organisers came up to me and moved me up against a curtain next to my model. I heard a lady call out “And Tara is the winner of the ‘Junior Up and Coming’ designers!” Then I was told to go up on the runway while the model does the catwalk again. I was given a big box and the lady told me my prizes were in it.
