Dear Families,
Thank you to people who have already made appointments to meet with teachers and your child for Three Way Conferences. Families of Kindergarten and Prep students have meetings just with the teacher. Families of Year 1 – 6 students have a three-way conference led by your child. Bookings close this Friday at 12:00pm. If you have not made an appointment by this time you will need to book directly with the class teacher. If you are unable to meet with the teacher during next week, teachers will be able to offer catch up meetings during week 6 only.
Students have been eagerly participating in Fire Education with Firefighter Todd. It has been great to hear the students talking about fire safety at home. I know many students have gone home and shared the fire safety message with their families.
Students in Years 5 and 6 have been participating in options each Wednesday afternoon since week 6 of term one. Teachers are currently working with students to preparing for sharing their options learning on Wednesday 18 June. While this involves upper primary students, all families are welcome to attend. Please see item later in the newsletter.
Regards
Anne Reeves
Principal

It’s back! Arts week will be in week 8 in term 3!
Mr Eddleston and Mrs Wallace are combining forces this year and organising a shared production. This will allow students to gravitate to their areas of strength and interest (music, performance or backstage). There will be two casts who will present the same performance. There will be two performances for each cast. Four performances in total! Details will be shared in the newsletter, so please check the newsletter and News and Notices each Thursday to keep up to date as this exciting event unfolds.
Tuesday 9 Sept.
- Cast 1 morning
- Cast 2 afternoon,
Wednesday 10 Sept.
- Cast 2 morning
- Cast 1 afternoon
Wednesday 18 June at 1:50pm in the hall.
Due to the varied activities in which the students have been participating the sharing will be a combination of a sharing style assembly and open classrooms. We will start in the hall where we will enjoy dance, guitar, drama and sport. Other activities; knitting, film-making, writing, perspective drawing and robotics will provide an outline of what they have been up to. After the sharing in the hall, families will then have the opportunity to go to the classrooms where these options are held and have a closer look at students’ work.
On Thursday 3 July Year 5 and Year 6 bands will be performing in the hall at 2:00pm. All families are welcome to attend this performance. This will be the Year 5 students first public performance so please come along and give them your support.
This is a reminder to all parents and carers of year 5 band members that your payment is due by the end of term 2.
Payments need to be made using Qkr!
Thank you
Tia: I enjoyed making my diorama. I made it out of shells and plants and my animal is black and likes to hide in pathways. |
Penny: I put lots of foliage and pipe cleaner vines in mine, plus a rabbit and ‘a flory’, a creature I made up.
Joe: I used clay for the animals and sticks for the trees, then I painted it all.
Dylan: First thing I did was design my animal, second we had to paint all the back ground and create the wildlife. My creature is made from clay and he always falls over! |
Heidi: my main creature is unknown, its scientific name is ‘glungo luminescent blob’, I also have a wolf and a sea snail. They are made out of clay and small shells. |
Josie: It is under the sea and little guys hiding, he is an eel I make from pipe cleaners. I loved making this. There's heaps of creatures hiding in the sand and the black and yellow eel is the top of my food chain. |
Clara: My diorama is in the saltwater coral reef. My animal is an “ocbioris”. It has a rounded mouth which is good eating for its meaty prey. It only eats dead animals, because it is a scavenger. |
We left really early and had to wait to get in. The first event that I did was my long jump, then I waited for my 100m race. After my 100m I went to high jump, but because I had my 100m semi final that started at 1:30 I didn't do the high jump. I waited for the finals of the 100m and I came third. At the end of the day I had the relay and we came second. I came first in the long jump and the Hobart Region came first.
