From the School Association Acting Chair
Nominations for the South Hobart School Association are still open!
Your school association is a wonderful thing. It enables events like Soho on Stage, the school disco and Ride the Rivulet. It facilitates Sushi Friday. The money raised goes towards equipment (like instruments and books) and events to make our lovely school even better.
Meetings are only twice a school term. As well as giving you insight into what’s happening at your child’s school. We have refreshments and networking before each meeting! What’s not to love?
Please consider nominating for the committee, we are a friendly bunch of people and it is a great way to contribute. You can pick up a form over the next few days from the school office before the AGM next Tuesday 9th April.
Thankyou.
Ouita (acting chair)
School Association Nominations
Thank you to the two people who have nominated so far to be a part of the School Association Committee. There are still two parent positions available on the committee. Nominations have re-opened to enable further parents to nominate. Please collect a nomination form from the school office if you are interested. Completed nomination forms need to be returned to the returning officer, Julieann Graham, via school admin, by lunch time on Tuesday 9 April.
The School Association AGM is on Tuesday evening followed immediately by the first meeting of the new committee. All parents and staff are invited to both of these meetings.
Julieann Graham
Returning Officer

The Australian Maths Trust competitions (Computational & Algorithmic Thinking and the Australian Maths Competition) entries and payments close tomorrow (5th April).
We have students who have entered forms, but payments haven’t been made. Phone calls have been made to those parents to remind them to finalise the enrolment. If you are interested in enrolling your child for these competitions, please make the payments on Qkr! and return the enrolment form.
Years 3-6 can enter the AMT Competition. The CAT assessment is open to years 5 & 6 only.
Next Tuesday, 9 April, we will be holding a whole school asssembly at 9:15am.
Our school cross country will be held on Wednesday the 10th April within the school grounds and out onto the rivulet track. Students will need appropriate footwear and are encouraged to wear house colours on the day.
Parents are welcome to attend.
Race Times:
Kinder - 9.20am
Prep - 9.40amGrade One - 10am
Grade Two - 10.20am
Grade Three - 10.40am
Grade Four - 11.40am
Grade Five - 12pm
Grade Six - 12.25pm
In order to hold the cross country we need some volunteers to assist staff.
There are two time brackets in which we require help:
9am to 11am and 11:30am to 1pm
Please let me know if you can help with one or both of these sessions.
Volunteers will need a current WWVP card and must have completed the safe guarding training, previously mentioned in the newsletter.
Please email Mark if you are able to help.
Water Polo- Registering Interest to Play and Organise
We are seeking interest from anyone interested in the grade 5/6 waterpolo competition which runs in term 2 of this year. Could anyone interested please email Ben at bclarkbd@hotmail.com and he can get your child's name down and email you more information. Training is on Tuesday evenings from about 730-830 pm and games are on Friday evenings. Teams are mixed and the focus is on fun and taking part. Coaches are generally older grade 9/10 former South Hobart Primary students. Previous years have been fun and a great way of increasing students aquatic and team skills.
We are also looking for parents to help organise as well. Whilst this is a South Hobart Primary School Team it is not coordinated by the school and requires parental support for it to occur.
