Australian Maths Trust - thank you to the families who have returned forms and made payments on Qkr!, which needs to occur in order for an assessment to be purchased. The final day for payments to be made on Qkr! is Friday, 4 April.
Staff Car Park - recently non-staff cars have been parked in the school staff carpark between 2:40 and 3:20. Could families please not use this parking area as there are no available parking spaces nor room to turn cars around.

On another note, we are saying farewell to Sarah Sauer sadly this week. Sarah has been working at South Hobart Primary School for the past 5/6 years as a Teacher Assistant and for the last two years in the role as an Education Support Specialist (ESS). Sarah has been working in the Prep rooms and Kinder supporting our English as a second language students amongst others. Congratulations to Sarah as she has obtained a full-time position at Lenah Valey in this role as an ESS. Sarah will be dearly missed; we have some big shoes to fill. All the best Sarah, from the staff, students and community at South Hobart Primary School. |
The remaining orders from Issue #1 have finally arrived and have been sorted by the new team of wonderful volunteers and will be going home with excited kids today!
Remember that orders for Issue #2 close next Wednesday, March 26th.
Did you know that every purchase you make on Book Club earns our school 15% of the order value in Scholastic Rewards? The school library uses these to purchase more books and educational resources for the school. It all helps!
Happy reading!
The invoices for levies have been mailed out and payment is due is by April 11 2025.
If you would like to put a payment plan in place please contact Julieann (School Business Manager) south.hobart.primary@decyp.tas.gov.au or contact us via Schoolzine.

Grab your bikes, scooters, steamers, appetites, cheering vibes, whatever your jam….there’s something for everyone! Look forward to seeing you there.
2025 School Soccer kicks off with our Soccer Funday this Sunday 23. Our Focus for soccer this year will be ball mastery skills, and what could be better than several performances and tips by the countries number 1 freestyle champion, and number 9 in the world.
We are super excited to have the country's champion, Jay Hennicke, join our Funday to share his skills and perform for the school. As well as Jay, our Funday will include, games, soccer activities, BBQ, competitions, prizes and so much fun.
The day starts at 11am on Sunday and will finish at 3pm.
Donations Required for Soccer Fun Day
Soccer gear donation request
We’ll be having a soccer gear giveaway at the soccer fun day on Sunday 23rd March, participation by donation. Please bring any donations of both SHPS and Morton’s soccer clothing, boots or gloves to the fun day within an hour of the starting time, or you can leave donations at the office. Please spread the word! This is a fantastic way to fit your kids with the next size boots etc., but it relies on everyone remembering to donate their soccer gear first!
Down Syndrome Awareness Day
Friday the 21st of March is Downs Syndrome Awareness Day.
Down Syndrome Awareness Day is all about raising public awareness, promoting inclusivity and supporting the wellbeing of those living with Down Syndrome
To help celebrate the differences amongst us and to understand and support people with Down Syndrome, students are encouraged to wear odd socks as the 3 strands of Chromosome 21 just happen to look like socks.
The more you read, the more things you will know. The more you learn the more places you will go.
Supporting your child to learn to read is one of the most valuable things you can do for their future. This includes reading aloud to your child.
All students at South Hobart Primary School will be provided with a reading log to track their reading.
Your support in ensuring that your child uses their reading log and returns it regularly to their teacher is appreciated. By creating good reading habits at home, you’re helping your child develop an essential skill that will benefit them throughout their life.
