Platypus Party
The Hobart City Council are holding a platypus party on Saturday 22 February at Cascade Gardens on the Hobart Rivulet from 1:00pm – 5:00pm.
The free event is a collaboration between the City of Hobart and Hobart Rivulet Platypus.
The afternoon will include a platypus dress-up competition, platypus t-shirt printing as well as Bush Adventure events for kids and families.
Local platypus legend Pete Walsh, the inspiration behind the documentary The Platypus Guardian, will share the stage with Hannah Moloney as they talk all things platypus.
The celebrations will include a rapid introduction into the watery world of waterbugs and how they are being used to monitor the health of platypus habitat in the Hobart Rivulet.
Bonorong Wildlife Hospital head vet Luke Gregory will talk about what makes our platypus so special and how we can all help protect Hobart's platypus populations.
PLATYPUS PARTY MEDIA EVENT
The HCC has asked if 4 – 5 students, who are passionate about the platypus, would be interested in being involved in a media event at the Cascade Gardens, the day before the party, on Friday 21 February at 12:00pm.
Due to the short time frame, the school is unable to organise permissions and transport to this event. If students are interested parents would need to provide permissions to the HCC, sign the student out, take them to the event and return them to school.
Please contact me if your child is interested. anne.reeves@decyp.tas.gov.au Obviously there are only a small number of spaces for this so not everyone will be able to be part of the media event. However, everyone can attend the Platypus Party on Saturday!
