Dear Families
Welcome back for the 2025 school year! I hope you have all had a wonderful holiday and are feeling refreshed and ready for another year.
This year we welcome back Mrs Paige Cunningham after maternity leave in 2024. We welcome new to our school; Mrs Clare Eddington (4A - Thursday and Friday), Mrs Leslie Van Loggerenberg (Prep B – Tuesday – Friday) and Mrs Hana Kramer (1B – Monday, 3B – Wednesday). We also welcome Mrs Bec Jubb in the role of assistant principal. In other leadership roles Mrs Bec Corney will continue as acting assistant principal and Mrs Caitlin Rice as acting AST on Thursdays.
We also welcome several new students to our school who have commenced today. We wish our new staff and students all the best for a successful year at South Hobart Primary.
Today students are bringing home a pack containing forms that need either completing or checking. A vital form is the validation of enrolment form. This contains the information that has been provided on enrolment forms. It is important that is checked carefully and details such as residential addresses, email addresses and phone numbers are correct. Please ensure that the ‘receives communication’ is ticked for contacts.
Any changes to medical or health conditions should also be advised to admin immediately.
DECYP is providing a three-year license for schools for See Saw. This paid version will provide more features to improve communication and facilitate the sharing of Evidences of Learning with families.
More information will be forthcoming regarding this, but only parents on the contact list who have checked the ‘receive communications’ box will be able to be added to See Saw. Please keep checking school communications each Thursday to keep up to date with developments in See Saw.
Regards
Anne Reeves

Parent Teacher Meetings - Save the Date
Parent teacher meetings will be offered in week 4 of this term (Monday 24 - Friday 28 February). The purpose is for teachers to let families know how students have settled into the new school year. A further purpose is for families to provide teachers with information about their child that will enable them to receive the most effective support for success at school. Students do not attend these meetings.
I strongly encourage all families to take this opportunity to develop a positive relationship with your child's teacher.
In order to receive effective communication for your child(ren) could families please subscribe to your child's class (eg. 1A) and their year level (eg. year 1) on SZapp. You will need to do this for each of your children. Please do this as soon as possible so that communication can be made in a timely manner.
Please also ensure that your email addresses are correct on the validation forms sent home today. Thank you.
Friday sushi needs your help!
Can you help out for 1.5 hours per school term? We need volunteers to keep our sushi program running in 2025. Please email sohoparents@gmail.com with your name and contact details.
Sushi Friday is the biggest fundraiser we have, and the kids LOVE it!
Please note that sushi recommences NEXT week, Friday 14 February.
Thank you.
