Dear Families,
Thank you to family members who were able to attend our Book Week parade this morning. It was wonderful to see the incredible range of costumes and the wide range of books that our students and staff are reading!
Thank you for all the effort that went into creating the amazing costumes on display today.
Finally, a huge thank you to family members who dressed in a character from a book and joined in our parade!
There will be more Book Week reports and photos in next week’s newsletter.
Regards
Anne Reeves
Principal

Dear Families / Guardians,
In Term 3 this year between 2nd September and 18th September, Grades 4-6 at South Hobart Primary School will participate in Consent and Relationship Education (CARE). The CARE program empowers children to understand that their bodies are their own and equip them to make positive, respectful choices for themselves and others. Topics covered over three sessions will include:
‘Felt Safety and Safety Network’
- Identifying early warning signs and connecting feelings to safe or unsafe behaviours
- Understanding and communicating safety
- Identifying trusted adults, support networks and resources
‘Our Bodies and Consent’
- Understanding consent related to concepts of body autonomy, privacy and safety
- Knowledge of correct anatomical body part names
- Identifying personal body rules
‘Consenting in Action’
- Understanding consent in context of spectrum of agreeance
- Understanding pressure, coercion, and force
- Strategies for communicating consent
On Wednesday 27th August at 3:15pm, we will be running a 1hr parent/guardian session at the school. The session will cover student content, information about sexual harm myths and prevalence, best responses to disclosures, and opportunities to ask questions from our educators.
CARE aligns with National Curriculum requirements for Consent and Respectful Relationships Education and is delivered by the Sexual Assault Support Service. If you have any questions about the program, please contact us on training@sass.org.au
Yours sincerely,
